Windows 7's Windows Network Diagnostics - "Apply Repairs Automatically"
Hello all, I just upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 (Ultimate) not too long ago. I had the problem of not being able to connect to my school Internet network very often with Windows Vista on my Fujitsu laptop, while the rest of my friends were able to. After the upgrade, things got better, but there are still times that I fail to connect to the public Internet networks. During the days of Windows Vista, I used to run Windows Network Diagnostics (WND) in my attempt to solve the network problem. Even though most of the time it wasn't successful in resolving the Internet connection problem, I really liked the fact that Window Vista's WND troubleshooting suggestions, and also it repaired (sometimes) the problems automatically. However, after my upgrade to Windows 7, the WND is very unhelpful in diagnosing the problems, and it would always - without fail - gives the same reply: "Troubleshooting couldn't solve the problem." I even tried "testing" the WND by purposely turning off the wireless adapter switch on my laptop. In the past, Window Vista's would be able to suggest to me immediately that I should "try turning on the wireless adapter", but the new Window 7's WND simply gives me the above-mentioned statement. I have to manually open the list to run through the various tests that were run, and the suggestions of "Turning on the wireless adapter" was only followed by the status "Not run". (I hope that you can understand my lower-than-satisfactory explanation above.) Is this a glitch in Windows 7, or is it just my computer? Thank you!
